About Ashby & Rowe
The people behind the work
Ashby & Rowe is a six-person joinery workshop in Kingston, New York. Since 2009 we’ve drawn, built and fitted built-ins, kitchens, staircases and doors for Hudson Valley homes, all under one roof.

Tom Ashby
Finish carpenter · Co-founder
Tom trained as a cabinetmaker in Vermont and spent ten years restoring old houses along the Hudson before opening the workshop in 2009. He still fits every staircase himself.

Lena Rowe
Designer · Co-founder
Lena studied architecture at Pratt and draws every room we build, from the first site sketch to the final shop drawing. She is usually the first person you’ll meet.
Six people, one bench room. Alongside Tom and Lena, four joiners build and fit every piece in our Kingston workshop. We don’t subcontract the making.
How we work
We take on a small number of projects each year. That gives us the time to get the details right, and the care to make the work feel like yours.
Every project starts with a site measure and a set of shop drawings you approve before we cut a board. Most installations are complete in two to five days.
